I'm thinking of buying a reproduction barrel from GunPartsCorp.com for my Winchester 1897 takedown model. My question is about timing the barrel to the barrel extension so that the preinstalled front sight bead is at 12 o'clock. I have installed revolver and rifle barrels before but never a shotgun barrel into a barrel extension like this has. The original barrel was tight on the extension and I dont know if they added the front sight after assembly or not. The extension has an adjusting sleeve but that appears to be for the purpose of taking slop out of the barrel to reciever like on a model 12. Any thoughts?
