I bought an early Japanese Browning A5. I haven't shot it but removed the forearm to check to see its setting.

On the inner rear of the forearm where there is usually some reinforcement there was a tan piece of plastic that is loose and that I at first assumed was secured there by the factory.

It appears to have come loose and and moved forward when firing and bent the spring clamp that goes around the bronze bushing.

I have never run across this before but then I've not had as early a Japanese A5 as this one.

Anyone ever come across this? How do you re-secure this piece or is this a non-factory replacement for something else?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
