My Merkel 2016 el has a three position adjustable trigger. When I put it in the back most position the trigger hangs up on the trigger guard and won’t reset for the second shot. The only solution I can think of is to grind the bottom of the gold trigger off which might look pretty bad and replacement trigger probably not available. Any other ideas out there?

I’d either move it forward, or have it professionally done.

Your options are to shorten the trigger or bend the guard.

Could he not remove the trigger and bend the blade upward a bit?

I suppose that would work as well assuming it's made out of a material that can be easily bent without snapping off.

Thanks for the comments. Will try to bend it a little. Doesn’t need much. I would prefer to have it in the rear slot as when thumbing the safety off on flushing bird I have to reach for the trigger. Also back slot allows better for gloved finger to get in. Will advise how adding slight bend works. Only need very little to let it clear.

After visiting with JJ Perodeau, friend and gunmaker extrordinaire, I sent the receiver to him. He was afraid the trigger would snap rather than bend. As Merkel parts are pretty much non existent. He said he would take a little off the bottom of the trigger and maybe bend the guard if needed. I think that’s better than me trying to bend.

Absolutely a good decision on your part!

Thanks to all for the input. Might have saved me from making the situation worse. Looking forward to the next pheasant hunt with it.
