This site has successfully resolved a few problems I've had (thanks!), here's one I've had trouble with....

My wife's grandfather has a 16,000 serial Savage 720 in 16 gauge that I disassembled to find the locking bolt broken. The old style half-moon ridge broke, seems like a common problem with older Browning A5s and clones.

My problem - numrich doesn't separate these by gauge for the Savage, though they are for Browning A5s and Remington Model 11s. I cannot find any definitive answer if the locking bolt differs by gauge.
Numrich link:

I would love to get this back running for him.
The frame seems like it is a 12 gauge frame (sure feels like it!), so I'm hoping Savage designed this part to be interchangeable between gauges. Lacking any other examples, I am wondering if the collective experience on this forum has an answer?
