How do you remove the front bead from a k-80 Standard Sporting
I have the little slotted screw almost half stripped out trying to turn it
with a jewelers screwdriver lots of downward pressure, and pliers to turn.
no movement..i got the sight Housing to spin around counterclockwise with pliers
to the point it now spins all the way around, and the white bead fell out.
yet the little screw is still iron gripped into the threads..Is it loctited/glued?
P.S. I really DO Not like the idea of putting a propane torch to a K-80
You'd think on a 10K+ gun they'd make things like the sight beads better..
torx heads and such ??? and not "glued together..

Use the tip of a soldering iron to heat the screw from the head and break the bond of the thread locker.

It's all about using the right tool for the job, which unfortunately in this case, you did not. A properly fitting screwdriver would have likely sheared the head clean off before it would have stripped out, unless the screw is made out of butter

Most likely you have ruined the slot in the screw trying to turn it with an incorrect screwdriver and not first heating the screw to loosen the locktite.
Most likely a new slot will have to be cut with an edge file of the correct width.
Most likely you will need to take the barrel to a gunsmith that can correct your error.

They are set in Loctite (at least in the sets of barrels that I have). I couldn’t get any of mine to release with a soldering iron ... so, I sent them to a good gunsmith. I couldn’t bear the thought of wringing one off (I think this would be easy to do). When you replace the screw/bead be sure it doesn’t protrude into the bore and foul your choke tube.

Sounds like a good reason to leave well enough alone.
