Met a gentleman at an informal shoot last Sunday. He traded for a Winchester 1897 and it could stand some work. In particular it needs new wood. Any recommendations out there for him to look? I think he would like something original looking. Thanks in advance. s/f Steve

With a little woodworking skill model 12 wood can be used. Requires some inletting for the trigger guard ,removing some proud wood at the receiver interface ,and opening the inside diameter of the forend.

I would try contacting the folks at the link below. They specialize in the model 1897. Good luck. https://classicoldwestarms.com/"I have solid frames, take downs, long and short barrels, original finish and re-blue, original wood and replacement wood, original actions or action jobs. I can match a 97 to what you are looking for."
