 Post subject: ? On replacing grip cap

I know this isn’t a shotgun but ...
Looking at a Remington 7400 in 243
It’s missing the grip cap .. had two post holes in the stock
How hard would it be to find one and have it fit correctly ?

Just slap it on. That's what they did at the factory when the gun was made. It's a mass-produced gun. You'd be hard pressed to find anything on it that was "fitted".

Well I know on the 1100s trying to find a recoil pad that fits is impossible
They have to be ground to fit

I agree for aftermarket pads. But, I'll bet you money, marbles and chalk that the factory pad is molded to fit. Further, I'd bet they have a jig to hold the pad in place while they drive the screws in.
