I posted this on the Official CG Forum but figured I'd try it here also. Anyone bought and installed this on their stocks? Did it reduce recoil? Worth it - or not?

Anyone bought and installed this on their stocks? Did it reduce recoil? Worth it - or not? It reduces recoil no more than its weight: it is primarily for balance, to suit your preference.

Hey Randy, Not sure what you mean by "reduces recoil no more than its weight"? Though helpful with balance I thought the springs inside the balancer help mitigate the recoil? Would a Kick-Ease work better?

Hmmm, ok when I called CG yesterday to ask about a problem I was experiencing with the comb hitting my cheek, I also inquired about what else can be done to reduce recoil. And one of the things he mentioned was this balancer as well as a different recoil pad. Their website offers almost zero info about it.

The DTS Kinetic Balancer is an elegant way to add weight, in increments, to the buttstock, for the purpose of fine-tuning the balance of the gun to suit your preference, not for significant recoil reduction. As far as your cheek hitting the comb, that is 100% stock fit issue, not a recoil issue. Your adjustable comb needs to be adjusted.

As I mentioned in another post I’m pretty sure it was my sloppy gun mount that caused the cheek slap. But to reduce recoil generally I’m thinking of going with a 1oz rather than a 1 1/8 ox shell and MAYBE changing to a Kick Eeeze pad

Definitely would be the first thing I would do. Run with that for a bit and then evaluate.

Final question - I'm assuming adding the weight in the stock will make the barrel "feel" lighter - helping with swing?

Not really. It just balances the gun to your preference.

How does someone even think to benefit from this; that's there's something lacking in the base stock? Unfortunately you have to buy it to try it.

Quote: The DTS Kinetic Balancer functions as a gun balancing and a recoil reduction system. The system allows you to add 4.25 - 7 ounces in 1.41 ounce increments. The weight can be adjusted forward or backwards to fine tune the balance of your gun. See: https://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewto ... 4&t=253079RickM46 wrote: I installed the Balancer in my Guerini and went with 2 of the weights first. I found that installing the weights forward on the shaft gave me better recoil reduction - about the same as my 12 ga semi-auto. Also see: https://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewto ... 2&t=4555502500 HD wrote: I have an Ascent Challenger 30" with tube set. I have the kenetic balancer installed in my stock with all 3 weights on the shaft. You can use it with 1,2, or all 3 weights on the balancer. When my tubes are not in I put my barrel weights on towards the muzzle end of my barrel and it feels like my tubes are in. Same feel. If I move the barrel weights half way or close to the forend I can speed up my swing. I think it's a great system. Very adjustable. Oh and I hear no movement of the balancer and my weights never fall out.

I'm looking to try one as well. More for balance but if recoil reduction is added that's a bonus.
Do they ever come up for sale used?
