DTS Kinetic Balancer

I posted this on the Official CG Forum but figured I'd try it here also.

Anyone bought and installed this on their stocks? Did it reduce recoil?
Worth it - or not?

It reduces recoil no more than its weight: it is primarily for balance, to suit your preference.

Hey Randy,

Not sure what you mean by "reduces recoil no more than its weight"? Though helpful with balance I thought the springs inside the balancer help mitigate the recoil?
Would a Kick-Ease work better?

Hmmm, ok when I called CG yesterday to ask about a problem I was experiencing with the comb hitting my cheek, I also inquired about what else can be done to reduce recoil. And one of the things he mentioned was this balancer as well as a different recoil pad. Their website offers almost zero info about it.

The DTS Kinetic Balancer is an elegant way to add weight, in increments, to the buttstock, for the purpose of fine-tuning the balance of the gun to suit your preference, not for significant recoil reduction.

As far as your cheek hitting the comb, that is 100% stock fit issue, not a recoil issue. Your adjustable comb needs to be adjusted.

As I mentioned in another post I’m pretty sure it was my sloppy gun mount that caused the cheek slap.

But to reduce recoil generally I’m thinking of going with a 1oz rather than a 1 1/8 ox shell and MAYBE changing to a Kick Eeeze pad

The change to 1 ounce payload is probably the best change you can make to reduce your recoil with no change to the gun required. Definitely would be the first thing I would do. Run with that for a bit and then evaluate.

Final question - I'm assuming adding the weight in the stock will make the barrel "feel" lighter - helping with swing?

Hmmn, it's one of things I'm guessing you need to try out to see if it works for you.
How does someone even think to benefit from this; that's there's something lacking in the base stock? Unfortunately you have to buy it to try it.

I'm looking to try one as well. More for balance but if recoil reduction is added that's a bonus.

Do they ever come up for sale used?

they come up used for about half price, exactly 10 min after I bought one full price... just be patient.
