An update. My Summit arrived back from CG's shop in Maryland this week. They installed factory release triggers for me and did perform a pit stop on the gun. When I talked to the office, as a second owner they indicated that labor would be at no charge for the pit stop but I would be responsible for any required parts. In the end though, there was no charge for anything to do with the pit stop. I am very pleased with that level of customer service. Beyond expectation.
I was away from home on business until last night so took the gun out of the case and checked it over and put it together. Everything looked and felt great. Tested the release triggers using my snap caps and those felt and worked well.
And today I had an opportunity to test run the gun with first shots fired through it in a registered event at one of my primary clubs....Scarborough Fish and Game. My wife asked me if I was sure I wanted to shoot the gun for the first time in a competition and logically she was right to ask but emotionally, there was no way I wasn't taking the gun and shooting it
I only shot the main event today but am really pleased with how the gun handled for me and worked excellent as I expected it to. My other O/U has 30 inch barrels and balance and handle are not nearly as nice as this gun with the 32's. I like the more slender fore end and the length of pull is spot on perfect for me out of the box. I have lost 25 pounds this year and my other competition guns I have shot for several years each began to feel foreign and I was getting a bad habit of coming off the gun. Since the clubs had come back on line, I had really been struggling and shooting poorly. I didn't have any issues keeping my head on the stock and I moved the gun well. I scored an 84 which felt pretty solid overall. Anxious now to continue my work getting to know the new gun and getting my game back in order again.
Very pleased with my new to me CG Summit Sporting.
