It looks like a significant increase in NSCA membership fees.

One year 33% increase from $30 to $40
Life Membership 80% increase from $500 to $900
Senior Life Membership 240% increase from $250 to $600

Maybe there’s a typo or 5. Maybe it’s an intentional plan to eliminate sales of lifetime memberships. Maybe it’s simply poor business acumen.

I can appreciate that the labor and materials costs to manufacture punches has gone up a lot and postage went up on the e-mags, but really? Oh well . . .

"Gee, I don’t know why no one bought any life memberships this time around. Wonder why?" "Climate change, no doubt." "Let's hire a consultant," says the next.

Good one Scardog! There are too few chuckles on this site. Thanks for the smile about reasons for the price increases.

It's probably because many of the members are old enough to decide to no longer buy green bananas.

What Curly said.

And, if you are a lifer, it's more difficult to vote with your feet when the Association does something that's really annoying.

Easiest thing there is to shoot fewer registered targets which is exactly what the Skeeters have done.

The price per target for a registered SC event is just getting too high for my budget so that's exactly my plan. I'll shoot more on Sundays with the growing crowd of like-minded folks. Or, the same day if the club allows.

But there is a intense satisfaction in being a Life Members that comes from knowing that you are not affected by dues increases. And even that pales in comparison to the relief that comes from not writing an annual check to NSSA.

It must be a real annoyance to the sporties that they could not even vote for (or against) the Directors that voted for the Executive Committeemen that voted for the dues increase by phone conference.

Why not life membership in both NSCA and NSSA? The benefits would be indescribable.

This "sporty"discontinued his NSCA membership and reupped as a NSSA member on the off chance we can split these siamese twins.

I wonder what would happen if the sporting crowd woke up and realized they didn't need to pay any of skeet's bills?

Then where would you host your Nationals?

The cost of almost everything we use or participate in life has gone up. Why would it be a surprise that dues have increased. Shooting clay targets is not a socialist sport, use it, pay your portion.

Yes, your block of cheese will be moved from time to time. Change; It is part of life.

Easy for you to say. You are a Life Member, so you won't be subject to the increase.

On a rotating basis at any number of excellent clubs around the country - like the USO.
Wonder how long NSSA could keep the doors open at NSC, if they weren’t throwing sporting targets?

Well, since the sporties can fill up their Nationals with about as many shooters as they want to, they could see about continuing the same old shot out grounds at the NSC. Having your belongings stolen has taken quite a charm over the years. Who wants to break tradition of filing police reports and insurance claims?

You could hold Nationals at any club capable of handling the World English or World FITASC Championship, which are WAY more important event at any rate.

BS DU has been 35 a year since I was 22.

I'm not happy about the price going up to $50 a year, that's a pretty large increase, paper magazine or not.

And why are nationals held at the same club every single freaking year.

I am not sure if this is a rhetorical question or not but I will give you a hint: "cha-ching! $$$$" move as many as you can through quickly. Thank you, come and pay again!

It also is the same answer as why the TX State tournament was moved from Fossil Pointe to the NSC.

I am quite sure there are a few clubs that could handle it

Why hold Nationals at the NSC every year... well for starters we own it. Why pay a third party to host Nationals when we can pay our own association. Kind of like when a country club has their Christmas party....they do it at the club, not at a third party venue where rent has to be paid.

The Texas State Shoot was moved because Fossil Pt could not meet contractual conditions to hold the shoot. Even though I would have enjoyed the shoot at Fossil Pt I would not have enjoyed the 8+/- hour drive to get there. NSC 2 1/2 hrs!!

The best route for me has been learning from oneounceload. Skip the tournaments and shoot their targets the day after. Saves roughly 50% on targets.

And my God, I am blessed to have a group to shoot with every weekend. And I don't even like to be social. Right, hopper810? So it isn't like I'm some loser who only has shooting friends that I see at tournaments.

Getting off my soapbox, I am certain the increase is going to pay for FITASC style NSCA certified refs at every Chanpions Tour event, right?
