Yeah, I got a SSD problem.

I have had Laurona O/U, SxS; other Ugartecheas, Sarasqueta, Zabala Hermanos and traded or sold them away as they didn't fit me.

-1: I sold the Ugartechea grade III 16 ga.

I have 7 Spanish guns, 3-16 ga (2 SL & 1 Boxlock); 2-28ga (2-boxlock), 2-12 ga (1 boxlock, 1 SL - retired)

Three of my previous guns are owned by members of this forum. Kyrie has a SL AyA that I purchased in Spain and he has refurbished. He came by it in a very convuluted route as he didn't get it from me!

Another 16 ga Greener Crossbolt Ugartechea has been converted to a Double Rifle in 9.3x57 right here in Boise.

I am going to Spain this summer and have been told the economy has tanked. I will be looking for bargains again at the gunshops!

Had to send a V. Sarasqueta Uplander 20 ga. back, weak wrist.
Hated that; nice little gun. :(

I have to add:

Matador 16 ga.

Garbi box 12 ga 5lbs. 14oz

Only the 2 AYA #2s now.

I had a Victor Sarasqueta 20ga sidelock and a Sarriugarte Derby 20ga sidelock.

I've got a few pics of the Sarriugarte but don't have the skills to get them on the forum. Can anyone help?

Some info in the meantime.

Single non-selective trigger, mechanical.
Non auto safety.
Gas vents.
Cocking indicators.
Kersten fastener.
Full length tang.
Diamond hand - really comfortable.
Ventilated top rib.
Mid bead.
Weighs around 7 1/4 pounds.
The engraving is a bit "rustic" but looks to have been done by hand.
The whole gun just feels quality.

Rob.

I have one 16 gauge AyA #2 that I use for most upland game and this may sound blasphemous, but as well as I shoot it, I don't want another shotgun, unless.........it's an AyA 12, 20 and 28 gauge.

Mine consists of a Ugartechea of questionable model in twelve gauge( Honestly, I will figure out how to post pictures and confirm its model) and most recently a lovely AYA matador in twenty gauge.

What do you think of the Marixa? I've been circling that exact gun for about six months, dithering.

Only one amongst a few "Italians" and "Americans" at present, but I can see room for another one or two.

... A Union Armera (pre Grulla) 206E boxlock ejector.

Kyrie,

It is not a bad gun, considering the price. Slightly heavy for a 16 at 6 lbs 8oz, but liveable. Balance is nice, slightly ahead of the hinge pin. Fit and finish is acceptable. About the only real problem I have with mine is the chokes. When I bought the gun, the shop (Glen Cove Sports) had two available. One was choked Sk/M and the other IM/F. I asked for the Sk/M gun and didn't bother to look at the markings under the barrels. As a result of my own stupidity, I got the IM/F gun.

That aside, I would make the purchase again. As I said, I think it is well worth the price.

Is there a a record for reviving dead posts? This one was more than 10 years old.

I’ll throw in my Dickinson Ugartechea Falcon 1302. The only Spanish shotgun I own. Strictly a backup to all the other backup shotguns I have.

Okay, if we're reviving the undead:

I have a 1954 Zamacola Hermanos "Jabali" in 12 gauge, DT, side lock. They were a long-time gun maker in Eibar. Apparently did not export many guns, although they come up occasionally in the UK. Went OOB when their factory burned in 1982. Beautiful engraving, well balanced, surprisingly ordinary wood, but that may not have been a thing in 1954. I owned a Zabala hammer SXS that I liked but seemed to use mostly as a single shot. Sold it years ago. The Zamacola rekindled my interest in Spanish doubles. It's a pretty gun that shoots where I point, and being virtually unknown in the US, the price was right.
