You can use it in 16, 20, and 28 with some of your components.

Go to the Alliant data page... http://www.alliantpowder.com/reloaders/index.aspx to pick your loads.

I missed the 12 gauge load.

Lots of loads in sub gauge, as well.

It’s excellent for race loads (Annie Oakley, Knock Out, etc). It’s also a very good 28 ga powder and in some 20 ga 7/8 oz loads. Just go look up the loads.

Absolutely love it for 28ga! Herco is a classic, so plenty of data for your AAcf cases. It's a bit bulky, so plan accordingly.

I cant remember why I got it. its just sitting over in the corner. figure its time to use it.
im thinking it was more expensive per drop, so I went back to unique and 700x, and it just got pushed back into the shadows, along with my 540...that's now called hs6. man time has changed.
time for it all to go bang. I can use it up faster in the 12ga, so off to the closet.
thanks gang.

amazing how the memory starts to come back when you try.
would someone confirm my data?
I just checked the mec graph for 27gr of herco. it shows a #37 bushing.
holy cow it takes a lot to do the job!
im starting to remember why I bought it and said never again!
that's a lot of powder per drop!
is my data right?

Checked the Alliant page, and 27 gr is correct. No idea which bushing is required.

ok, I wasn't seeing things.
my trap load using 700x only takes 19.1 in comparison.
holy cow 27gr to do the same thing with herco.
now I remember why I stuck with 700x and pushed it back to be forgotten. thanks gang.

Herco is what I use for 3/4oz 28ga. A person can load 14 grains of Herco into most any 28ga 2-3/4" hull and with 3/4oz and the appropriate wad it will be saftely under maximum pressure.

In 12ga Herco is really more suited to 1-1/4oz and 1-3/8oz payloads. It *can* be used in 12ga with 1-1/8. I don't think it will light correctly with any much lighter payloads. Not 100% sure because I haven't tried it.

If I had that Herco it sure would be going in 28 or 20 gauge loads and NOT 12 gauge, for the exact reason Gibson has discovered.

don't feel like retooling and adjusting my 28ga mec. I like it set up with aa's and hs6.
and besides, im shooting trap this winter in conn. 28ga skeet shooters are in hibernation up here. lol.
