In normal times I would not have to ask this question, but these are not normal times. I switched all my 20 and 28 gauge target loads to 20/28 powder years ago, but I'm out and it seems to be unobtainable. I have lots of 12 gauge powder and would trade for a powder that will give me a good 20 gauge, 7/8oz load at 1200fps. What should I be looking for - Unique, Universal and International? Does any other powder do double duty with both gauges as well as 20/28? Thanks, Jeff

I use Universal for my 3/4oz reloads in 20; have used it for 7/8 oz as well; same for Unique in the past. green Dot works well too.

In Remington hull I use 16.0gr 800-X, in a Federal hull I'm using 14.5gr International. 7/8oz #9 skeet loads CB1078-20 and Federal 209A primers. Both loads are 1200fps.

You can try some Winchester 572 ball powder. It has many loads for both 20 and 28ga. I never used green dot but have used 20/28 and Unique. 20/28 is also my main powder but would go for Unique as a second choice then Win 572. Again, JMO!

I load my 28 target loads using Longshot and I believe there are also 20 ga loads using that powder.

I use Universal in 20g, and in pinch in 12.

Green dot will load 3 gauges and is more likely to be available since it is less popular.

Much like Green Dot, Vectan's "A1" makes for a fantastic 3/4 ounce load : And for 7/8th's ounce, loading them cheap yellow Federal 'Top Gun' hulls with WAA20 wads makes a fine load at decent velocities, and for a little less velocity in taper-hull Winchester hulls : Get it while you still can : https://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/pr ... ctId/28080

Universal is similar to 20/28 and gives excellent performance in both 20 and 28. Unique works okay for both 20 and 28, but I prefer Universal. Any port in a storm. I'm not aware of any 28 gauges loads with International, tho it is a dandy 12 and 20 gauge powder.

I use Universal in my 28, 20 and 16 ga loads. Universal was one of the recommended powders for 7/8 oz target loads for use in my Kolar 20 ga Citori tubes.

Depending on what hull you have, I’m using up a lot of Herco in 20 ga and I really like it

A lot of powders work in 20 ga.. I have used red dot (paper hulls & fiber wads), unique,& Herco with 7/8 oz. & have been using WSF lately. They all work with listed components if you hit the bird. Never loaded any 3/4 oz. loads & don't have a 28 ga..
