"Less than 5% of the shooting public." Interesting number. What is your reference for that number? I haven't done a survey but I see quite a few companies that make products primarily for reloaders. Let's talk about this a minute. Have you done a cost analysis on how much money it costs to make primers? Not to mention you don't have to make them. There are over 8 companies that make primers in various countries all over the world. Starting a new business is rarely easy but it is a cinch you won't be successful if you don't try. There are numerous voids left in the reloading supply line that offer prospects. Powder, primers, wads, shot, virtually all components have areas where new products or replacements for discontinued products would not be welcome. It would be easier for a company already making such a product to expand into another line. It seems the big ammo companies are trying to get out of the components business. That decision is up to them but I'm not going to let it become my problem if I can help it. Successful people are usually those that look for ways to make things happen, not for reasons that it won't work. Thanks for asking the question, I think I will make some phone calls & ask around.

Good video, supports what I said, we ( the reloader) get the "excess production" and right now it is all going to support the demand for factory products. Steve

someone needs to explain to me how they use more product. they all say they are running at full production. they have all been running at full production since forever [okay 10 years now anyway] and we still seen stuff on the shelves.
I'm imagining they are running off hunting ammo right now since I'm seeing 270 brass in the stores. last brass I seen was 38-55 and 44-40 a month or so back. ain't seen any of them on the ammo shelves yet though.

the silver lining with the Powder Valley Win 209s is that somebody at least is getting some Win 209s shipped. It is at least a start, even if only a drop in a big empty bucket......

50? I think $40 is more like what we will be seeing in the near future.
I found a sleeve of Rio's for 200$ today, not totally amused with the price, but still [shrug] I done a little happy dance knowing I'm good for the summer. my model 120-1200 Franken 1300-1400 parts trap gun Is plenty happy with the Rio hull and primer load I been using.

My NS 688 primers are looking more attractive than ever. I invested in several thousand for throw away hulls and now am using them i lieu of the mia ww 209.

A nearby gun shop has Fiocchi primers on a hit and miss basis. I going there today to pick up a 1000. They cost around $40. Not a great price but not robbery. I have plenty of Fiocchi hulls. They also have powder I can use. They are in a small town (pop. 1500) and don't have much walk in traffic.

I stopped at Shyda's Outdoor Center in Lebanon, PA yesterday. They have winchester 209 primers in stock. Limit of one box of 1000 ($40) with purchase of other reloading supplies. They didn't have much of anything in the way of powder but plenty of lead shot (no limits) available.

Picked up two 2 thousand more Winchester 209’s. Same price. Looks like around 50.00 thousand maybe the new standard.

Italy is in a new Covid shutdown, so I wouldn't expect any new shipments of Fiocchi primers. Dunno how that will affect Fiocchi ammo manufacturing in USA.
