I had quite a bit (reclaim then sat) that was rather heavily oxidized. It had been used for ballast. Didn't melt worth a damn to make sinkers.

Here’s what worked for me: I got a 5 gallon bucket and took bag of shot, likely several, to my club that has lots of lead around anyway; poured a bag, outside, into bucket; hosed shot down with water; swirled around to loosen dust; then decanted wet slurry into an out-of-the-way lawn area; repeat maybe twice more; took wet shot home in bucket and poured a reasonable amount into a cheap aluminum roasting pan to dry; then sprayed it with dry lube and mixed around in pan. After a day or two, poured shot in MEC and loaded it with no dust or hang ups.

Some will say this is too much hassle, and I don’t care. At the start I said this worked for me! It was worth it to not breathe in lead oxide dust. I now avoid oxidized shot, but if I found some cheap enough, it might be worth it again, for me, and I’d do the same thing with it.
