There is a thread here somewhere where someone used a piece of a straw over the primer, then seated it in a 209 size hull. Never tried it myself, it may work, but doing it 2,000 times  . You could also see if someone would sell you some hulls for the 97* primer, but you would need materials from a long time ago. Pass them on to someone who can use them, or trade them for 209 size primers.

I think you are confusing this with the #57 primer which is smaller. The 97 is, if I recall correctly the same size as the 209

Yes. Plus they have an open flash-hole so they shouldn't be used with ball powders. Dunno about other smaller grained powders. Clays?

Remington 97 primers are much like the Remington 209 (not P209 or 209 PSTS).

The main difference between the Remington 97 and a Remington 209 is the 97's have an open flash hole and are not supposed to be used with ball powders.

I've got a 1981 Hercules Reloader's Guide that has lots of loads using Red Dot, Green Dot, Unique, Herco, & Blue Dot using the Rem. 97 primer, mostly in Remington Hulls (RXP & Blue Magic), let me know if I can help.

Better post your location. Shipping them legally is basically impossible, and the penalties for getting caught shipping they illegally aren't lenient.

Sorry, as my mind is going, don't take everything I say as verbatum. I, being a Maine depression baby, save every thing. I turned up a bunch of 97 primers and found they fitted in a Remington hull that had a metal base which looked as though it had been copper washed. They worked fine until the hulls wore out. I then turned up some Herter primers, but passed them over to a local gun store where they had a better chance of finding a home.
