Hi,

It's been many, many years since I last owned a 16ga. And today a new Sweet 16 followed me home. (Let the grouse be warned!) I seem to remember shooting a lot of 1 1/16oz loads with a few 1 1/8oz loads for waterfowl.

When I looked a shells today, all I found was 1 1/8oz. A brief search on line shows either 1oz or 1 1/8oz. No 1 1/16oz.

Am I just old and forgetful about what I bought years ago? Or do I need to get with the times?

I've been shooting a 16 ga since 2009 and I've never seen a 1 1/16 oz load.

Hi,

I ain't had a 16ga since 1979,

So far then they might have never been or at least long gone by 2009. I'm betting I'm not remembering correctly.

Hi,

So maybe my memory isn't so bad then. So the 1 1/16oz load could have been more popular back in the day.

They were VERY popular back after WWII and in the '50s!

Gentlemen,

BobK is correct, in the 50's the 1 OZ and 1 1/16 were the standard loads available for the 16 gauge double guns. I used both very effectively. Your memory is not defective at all. Great Grouse & Woodcock loads. The modern 1 1/16 loads are hard to find now. Even in the 60's it's one of the reasons the men in our family rolled their own, most of the time.

If somebody knows where I can purchase good 1 1/16, 16 gauge shells please let me know. Wish RST would make SpredR's.
