I just moved to Gwinnett County, I use to shoot trap in Maryland twice a week but I lived near trap ranges. I don't know what is the nearest place to go trap shooting, or even Skeet or Sporting clays, let me know folks.

Sporting Clays ranges are available at http://www.ga-sportingclays.org/georgiaclubs.html Many of these clubs have trap ranges and there are many other sporting clays ranges around the state that are non GSCA clubs. Good luck with finding your niche. Welcome to Georgia!

Get ready to drive 50 or so miles, each way.

Three closest clubs?

Cherokee in Gainsville - private club (2+ year wait to join)

South River in Covington - open to the public and memberships available. $7.00/round.

Athens Rifle Club - private club but can shoot as guest of a member @ $3.00/round. Short waiting list.

Cherokee Gun Club in Gainsville has monthly trap, skeet and sporting clays events, all open to the public. From Suwanee or Lawrenceville it's a 20 minute drive straight up I-985. There is a nominal charge to shoot these events, but walk-ins are welcome.

There are also regular regional ATA championships held there which are open to non-CGC members, but of course would require ATA membership. All-day events include lunch. One of these is being held June 15.

See the CGC web page for more info.... http://www.cherokeegunclub.org/

Two places that I go to, neither of which are "inside" Gwinnett, but an acceptable drive anyway:

Charles Elliot Range in the Georgia Wildlife Management area south of Mansfield: http://www.georgiawildlife.com/node/3012. Cost is $19/year for a GORP permit, plus $6.75/round.

Tom Lowe Range just west of Hartsfield Airport: http://atlantaskeetshooting.com/. No annual fee, but $6.75/round.

I can’t get my old Run68bone work, so I created a new account. Still looking for places to shoot trap in Northeast Georgia. My little girl is showing a interest and I’d like to take her out in a few years. Anyone know of any trap near Athens Georgia?

Check out near elberton. I thought there was a club out that way. I may be mistaken.

Not sure if public or private.

Athens - Athens Rifle Club - private club, includes 2 skeet fields, trap, 5 stand, handgun and rifle ranges. Currently there is a waiting list.

Elberton - Elbert County Gun Club - private club, but open to public on Fri-Sun for clay shooting. Includes 2 sporting clay courses, trap, skeet, and 5 stand. Membership will be capped soon. See phone number on attached website: http://www.elbertcogunclub.com/

Bowman - Sportsman Gun Club - Skeet and Trap.

I’m a member of both Athens Rifle Club and Elbert County GC. I consider my memberships as money well spent.

For your daughter...

• Check out the Youth Program at Cherokee GC in Gainesville. (See the CGC web page.) Everything is FREE for under 18 shooters at CGC.

• Check out an area youth team called Georgia Claybusters on Facebook. This is an area co-ed team with co-ed coaching. They shoot all 3 disciplines.
