I was going through my Pile-O-Crap and found several several boxes of Remington Nitro-Steel Magnum shells I bought in 2003. Looked to be in perfect condition. The printing on the box says 1-3/8 oz No. 2 at 1265 fps. What with most steel ammunition now around 1400 fps and up, I wonder if these are humane killers for waterfowl or should I save them for rabbits and such?

I use them for swatting crips.

I have a bunch of Nitro Mag 2 3/4", 1 1/4 ounce shotshells at 1275 FPS. They kill ducks very well. Shoot em. Shells from 2003 will be just fine if you stored them in a dry place.

I have some old steel shells, #4, T, and #2. I have been told that the really old ones had a tendency to rust, making basically a slug. I can't verify that, just something I was told.
