Anyone have experience with XLR5 not locking the bolt back? Cutoff lever seems to be fine.

I’ve disassembled and cleaned, reassembled and no luck. Nothing appears to be broken or damaged.

At a loss here.

Did you look inside while you pull the cutoff button (left side of trigger guard) away from the gun to see if the carrier latch is popping out? Check the carrier latch button to be sure it is not stuck in (should spring out after you push it). Could be a problem with the carrier latch spring, or maybe a crud around the carrier latch keeping it from popping out.

Contact Andrew at Fabarm USA via phone or email. He's good and accessible.

So I missed this as it wasn’t obvious when I first disassembled the receiver. It evidently was just cracked or I didn’t see it until I pulled out the trigger group the second time.

I’ll call Fabarm Monday and order two. Thanks for the help SGW.

I think that is a common problem with the shell lifter breaking. There is a thread on this forum somewhere about it. Bad news is, I think the gun has to go back to Fabarm to fix it correctly, as it has to be fitted.

Agree- they’ve been great to work with in the past. And these are super solid guns regardless of this issue.

I’m going to have to buy my boy a backup. He’s shooting so much 4-H and SCTP we can’t be down for a week. Another XLR5 LR is in my future.

Ugh- don’t like hearing that. I can replace the shell carrier, not a big job. I’ll call em on Monday and see what they say.

Your carrier broke in the exact place as did mine a few months ago. The entire gun will have to be returned as previously indicated. Got it back in about one week; warranty covered the repair.

Looks like a trip to MD. Sending it tomorrow. They said I’ll have it back in a week. William with Fabarm/CG has been excellent to work with.
