What condition of purchase ever required RH to hire back one former employee or open the old plant? Assuming they have paid for the assets, they can do as they wish. As with lots of companies, the union is often part of the problem and not the solution. If the union has all the answers why did the union not purchase the assets and run the plant saving all their own jobs? If they had a credible plan they could have borrowed the money. Personally, RH should hire who they want and if a majority of those new employees want a new union then establish a new one according to labor laws. If not, so be it. It’s hard to see how a company that doesn’t even own the Remington Arms name is the successor to “Remington.” According to the linked article, the State of New York agrees from a tax perspective.

Perhaps Randy knows of some illegalities that the leadership of Roundhill has committed in their efforts to start RemArms (?). Since the term " cr**ks " is being rather liberally applied, I assume so. I`m personally unaware of any charges that have been forthcoming. Then again, perhaps he`s simply applying a more liberal definition of the term to practices with which he personally disapproves?

Roundhill is one person, venture capitalist Scott Soura.

The allegations of malfeasance and bad faith are from many sources, including UMWA President Cecil E. Roberts.

Quote:
“Think about it, what is a union’s strength? A union’s strength is to go on strike. That’s really all a union can do. And if they choose to go on strike, that’s the end of New York. We shut the doors, we never open it again,”
-- Richmond Italia (Former Paintball CEO / former Roundhill associate, former Roundhill partner, now (apparently) RemArms CEO)

By what theory can a plant with no workers, that is not open, go on strike? When you aren't working and have not worked since September, 2020, refusing to work is an inane concept. "We shut the doors, we never open it again" is not difficult, particularly when the doors have never been opened. It is very hard to shut what is already shut.

As far as smarmy, fishy, and bad faith . . . that was talked about back in October: https://rss.com/podcasts/firearmsindustrynews/80405/ .

March 1st is rapidly approaching. If memory serves, Roundhill has stated that the production line and plant will reopen on that date. To do that, there would have to be plenty of activity in the plant ( maintenance , inventories, etc., etc. ). I have not seen reports that such activities are underway.

Only because you've not bothered to read them. Whatever it is, it is a convoluted mess and there is current litigation with the Federal bankruptcy court that will determine if things can proceed at all.

Quote:
(WUTR-TV) — “Richmond Italia is the new owner of the Remington Arms plant in Ilion.” In the WUTR-TV interview of October 21, “We’re not talking, we’re not shutting down for six months,” said Italia. “We’re talking weeks to a maximum a couple of months. Maximum.”

It would be very foolish to give credence to what is claimed about re-opening. In October, it was 'weeks to a maximum a couple of months. Maximum.' That was a startling falsehood, unless you believe that "Roundhill" was so very clueless as to not know you need a manufacturing license to make firearms. The weeks to a couple of months was an impossibility, but that is what was claimed, anyway.

I think some are confusing Remington ammo and Remington firearms here.
