Hi guys I just bought a new Ithaca 37. I have to say this gun is much lighter and slimmer than I thought. It’s a home defense version with synthetic stock (plan to swap it out for wood furniture). Gun is sharp as can be minus the slide release/lock. It has some rust on that spot and that spot only. I sprayed some CLP and only got a little off. Anyone know a good way to remove it without marking up the finish? It’s matte blued. Thanks. |

Saturate some 0000 steel wool with Barricade, rub the spot gently. Works for me. |

Thanks I’ll give that a shot when I get home. I also used some barricade in a cloth. Still a little came off. I’m always hesitant with the steel wool especially on blued surfaces but I’ll give it a try. Kind of odd that’s the one spot on a brand new gun that has rust. |

I think the slide release is maybe hardened and doesn't like taking finish or is a different alloy steel. Seen it on the NY guns too. I've just cleaned them up, removing the finish and keeping them well oiled. Looks fine. |

Thanks guys. I’m just amazed how light this is versus my Mossberg 590A1 I had. |

So I wet some 0000 steel wool with barricade. Gently rubbed it and did not get anymore off. It doesn’t feel coarse whatsoever but smooth. I’d just touch it up with a birch wood and Casey pen but I don’t want the rust to resurface. |

Have you considered contacting Ithaca Gun Company? |

Does it have a barrel length magazine? |

I can't say enough about the very positive response and service that I received from the new Ithaca Gun Company. My new M37 had a feeding problem and after a phone call, I was sent a shipping box to return the gun to them. In a reasonable period of time, the gun was returned to me in wonderful condition; cycling super slick at no charge to me. I did register the gun with Ithaca at time of purchase and the factory did look up that registration. |
