I am new to this forum, found it last night while searching for information on a SXS I am thinking about buying. I was impressed with the number of knowledgable folks who were willing to share what they knew and seemed genuinely friendly. I live in the Olympia area and am very interested in upland bird hunting.

I've just found my way here and figured I say hello to everyone. I live in Cle Elum and hunt all over the state for upland and waterfowl. I also head into Idaho occasionally for same. My favorite is chukar with quail, pheasant, dove, ducks, geese all a close second. I shoot LC Smiths mostly and have a young chesapeake for a companion. Rob.

Hi all,

I grew up in the Dakotas hunting duck, goose and pheasant. Been here 15 years and haven't gone hunting for these birds yet. I'd like to get back into it, but don't know where I can hunt. Been doing some skeet shooting just to get in some practice. Any help would be great.

Chris,
Amen. Chukars will have you looking like Lance Armstrong in no time. I've been pondering going to the Snake around Asotin to hunt chukars myself. My Brittany's five years old and I haven't taken him there yet. Time's a wastin' as they say.

Mark

We saw some Chukars in Asotin, and went down to the Grand Ronde River. Wow, very pretty, tough country there, and spotted some some Chukars in some of the washes not too far away. A local fish guide said he saw a lot on the river, but we didn't while there one late afternoon and morning.

But its very very steep hills and tough country to walk. Mostly there were fly fishers and drift boats for steelhead on the Grand Ronde. What a beautiful river too... Ended up flushing some nice quail coveys on Upper Crab Creek on the way back (which is due N of Hanford area), which my pal called Quail Central. The Asotin county trip is worth the scenery- its stunning as was Palouse Falls on the way there!

BTW, I'm just north of Mt. Vernon.

I just signed on here, too and am glad to be aboard.

I'm just within the city limits of the tiny little hamlet of Poulsbo.

Been in the state since '66.

Chris,

Do you shoot over at the Poulsbo Sportsman's Club, on Clear Creek, or at the Bremerton Trap & Skeet Club, which is out towards Belfair?
I'm in N.Kistap, too.

Dean

Hey Dan,

Welcome ot the neighborhood, I'm right across the bridge from you.
Don't you guys have a shooting range out there, somewhere?
I used to shoot out at Teal Lake, but they've since closed the roads.
Might be fun to smash a few clays out your way, sometime.
