I was in the past using Muller chokes in a Beretta 692. A shoulder injury has me shooting a new Fabarm auto.

Looking at which chokes to buy for this gun I am thinking of just 2, a U1 and a U3. I saw a statement where Jimmy the identified the constriction like this:

”U1 on edge targets to 32 yards
U2 on edge targets to 45 yards
U3 on edge targets to 55 yards

You can add 15 yards to each of these if target is not on edge.”

Knowing the U1 will cover all close stuff out to 32 yards, and many here say 40 yards and being the U3 can cover virtually everything else to 55 yards, and further, I am thinking these two will cover most anything I might encounter out there.

I would really like to hear what Jimmy thinks of this combo. Any ideas from anyone else is very welcome also.

Thanks, Doc

Doc,

I am running Muller chokes in all of my guns (target and hunting) and for me, the U2 is the best thing going.

Not sure what kind of witchcraft goes into a U2, but they flat out work on everything from Rabbits to 50+ yd on edge targets.

Cheers

Been using a U2/U3 combo in 2 different OU's for several years and in my particular gun/choke combo I found my U2 lacking a tad past 35 yards when patterning it and the U3 fits the ticket for me on the 40+ yard targets.

Ooops! The title to this was typed incorrectly. I should have typed U1 and U3.

I skipped the U1.

I have a U0, U2, U3, and U4

U0 and U1 are almost the same (0.002 vs 0.005] so I went with U0:for the really close stuff and go straight to U2 from there.

Haven’t run into a situation yet where I thought “ugh.....if only I had a U1 that target would have broken”.

U1 is between SK and IC; U2 is between IC and LM and U3 is basically M
Go according to how they pattern in your gun with your ammo

^^^ Beyond solid advise ^^^

For me, I didn't like the way the U1 patterned in my Zoli.

I've been using nothing but two U2's in both barrels of my 692 now since 2019, I can't tell you the last time I changed a choke.

I went to the 692 from a A400 because I wanted to be able to change chokes for different barrels............lone and behold I shoot the same regardless. I shot nothing but a U2 in A400 xcel as well.

U2's are great chokes and you'll get great performance out of them in that Fabarm.

I am supposed to receive my set by tonight, according to the tracking info. First time trying out the Mullers. So, I decided order set of 4. U0, U1, U2, U3. 2&3 for trap, 1&2 for Sports, and 0&1 for occasional skeet. Oh... the choke ranch, too.

Now, I will see how these will treat me.

Have the exact same set-up for my Browning 725 and they work great great for all disciplines.
