Is that "Browning 686" a single or double barrel?

Not familiar with a Browning 686, but I'd recommend Skeet or IC for grouse, and LM or Mod for dove regardless what type of gun you're shooting.

Agreed. For grouse, I use Cylinder and Improved Cylinder in a double and in a single, Cylinder for early season and IC late.

Hello, I believe your 686 20 Gauge takes the MOBIL choke system? If it does, it is the tightest shooting 20 gauge on the market due to the tight bore diameter, so for Grouse, I would highly recommend U1 for first shot and U2 for second shot.
IF your birds are holding well on a calm day and your first shots are averaging inside 25 yards, go with a U0/U2.

For Doves, similar scenario. Of course it all depends on how far away you like to shoot doves.
Basically with Dove & Quail loads, I would use a U1 out to 30 yards, U2 out to 40, U3 out to 50, U4 beyond that.
