There's a 20 showing for $124 and a 12 at $249 at the same store showing in stock at
Walmart Supercenter #242
310 Hedge Ln
Paola KS 66071

Keep in mind they MIGHT be on hold for someone for a NICS background check, but the stores inventory system says they are there so might be worth a look if the drive isn't too far.

20 Gauge barcode
http://barcode.live/?upc=047700836263

12 Gauge barcode
http://barcode.live/?upc=047700298795

I normally go to a yellow vest AWAY from sporting goods, ask them to scan the barcode on my phone and verify that they have one in stock. Once they have (it WILL show up in stock) then I go to sporting goods and ask for it. You might get a "It's on NICS hold" in which case you struck out. If you've been polite to this point and they seem friendly you could ask them to call you if the background check for that buyer doesn't clear (has 30 days to clear, and if it doesn't in that time, Walmart won't sell the gun to that person and it's back up for grabs).

You might get a "we don't have it" and then you pull out the barcode and ask the sporting goods person to scan it, and they'll see they have one in stock. If they're adamant that they don't have it, ask for the store manager. They have to keep perfect records on guns in these stores, so if it's showing on hand, it's there somewhere, or someone is in deep doo with the ATF.

Employees will hide stuff waiting on the price to drop, or be too lazy to look in the locked gun cage in the back of the store for it, but if the system says it's there, it's there. Employees hiding stuff on clearance is very common, and is called backstocking. It is against Walmart policy so if you don't get any traction on getting them to look for it, throw out that term and "has anyone contacted the ATF to report the missing gun?" and you'll probably walk out with what you're looking for.

I can't imagine a Dallas area Walmart selling a firearm.

Thanks. They were both on Ncis hold by the time I got there yesterday evening. I think I got hot spotted. But I appreciate the tip nonetheless.

Had one about an hour away drop to $89. I couldn't get over there, but out of curiosity I called and they said "We don't have it, sold it last week"

Two days later the on-hand dropped to zero, so they DID have it, and either didn't know or were hiding it.

This has been common around this area.
Saturday a friend tried for one that showed in stock. A dept manager scanned his barcode when he arrived, and it showed one on hand.
When he got to sporting goods, he was told that gun wasn't actually there. The store assistant manager was there, and he backed the story. When he asked if they could just check physical inventory one time, the manager insisted that there was no need to.

Last week at a different store, I also had an associate scan the code, and it showed they had one. When I got to sporting goods the dept manager first told me "they don't have any guns on sale", after I pushed back, and showed her the barcode, she informed me that that particular gun was stolen some months earlier. (haha)
I was tempted to text my local ATF agent (I know him personally), but it's not worth it.

All that to say... I don't think it's uncommon for them to hold the guns for specific people or hide them.

Some places they genuinely don't know they have it, and just getting them to look is the trick, some places they definitely stash it for themselves.

Honestly for sporting goods, your "urban" stores in the 'hood tend to be your most likely places to score deals. The employees there are concerned with big screen TV's and other electronics. They don't care about sporting goods deals.

I saw a news article today that stated that Walmart would not hold a gun anymore if NICS didn't immediately approve the sale with the ATF number. I will see if I can find the article and provide the link.

The company decided that it would no longer sell guns to customers without a completed approval from NICS. The company refuses to sell a gun without a concrete all-clear from the federal system.

My SIL was a manager (for a short while) at a Walmart 6 years ago. He told told me that Walmart would not hold a gun for a NICS number. This is a rather old policy of Wally World, it seems.

I'd be interested in reading that if you can find it.

As I understand it if the NICS is denied, you're done. If it's approved, you walk out with the gun. If more information is requested, then WM will hold the gun for 30 days until approval is given. If approval is not specifically given, no sale.

If they're changing that it would make things easier for me. I've NOT driven for a couple of guns I've seen in stock because I was worried I'd spent two hours in the car to find that it was on hold for someone. If they do a "pass or no sale" that means if it's in stock, it's available.

Fenton and Arnold both show on hand in both 12 and 20 gauge, but still priced at $348, so that's why they haven't sold out.
