I just bought a Perazzi 20 ga with factory tiger striped case color in excellent condition. Do I have to do anything special to preserve the excellent factory case colors?

Try to keep your fingers off it. IE Wear gloves. The acids in our fingertips is hard on case coloring.

Other than that -- dry it fully if it gets wet.

Case colored receivers have lacquer “clear coat” applied. Do not use harsh solvents and especially do not use acetone since they can or will remove the lacquer and your case colors will look dull. Many gunsmiths can re-apply the lacquer if needed. Some people are opting to use clear Cerakote ceramic coating. Les Pittman is the man when it comes to any Perazzi work.

I had a case colored mirage that the lacquer coating was chipped. I removed it with acetone and the result was very dull and could not really see the stripes of the case coloring. I sprayed a lacquer coating myself. Took some time and 10 coats but came out very nice.
