Hello,
I picked up a used Perazzi MX8 special couple weeks ago and finally had the chance to shoot it today. This is my first high end shotgun and it took a lot of self convincing to justify the money for it. Was pretty nervous and dint want to look like a fool with a high end gun that can’t hit anything. Well I broke 24 on the first round. Oh what a relief. The gun felt great and has considerably less recoil than my other gun (CZ redhead target) I know I’m a rookie lol.
Any way, I had a question regarding gun maintenance.
Should I use grease or oil for lubricating the gun?
What grease or oil do you recommend?
Thank you for your recommendation in advance
The general rule of thumb is to use grease on parts that move slowly and oil on parts that move quickly.
In my O/Us I grease the bearing surfaces on the locking lugs, forend iron, and the receiver where the forend pivots. I oil the ejectors and springs.
I also never put grease on the choke tube threads. Only oil...It keeps them free-spinning.
You can pretty much follow those same rules for any application where lubrication is needed on metal parts.
