I am looking at an MX5 built in 1999. Gun is not proofed for steel and has tight chokes (M and F). The gun is a field gun and I intend to use it as such. A few questions.

1. Does anyone here hunt with this model. If so, what are your impressions?
2. If I open the chokes with a good gunsmith is there an impact to value?
3. Is there a date after which the gun was made when it is safe to shoot steel. I will be opening the chokes to IC and Mod.

Thanks for any help.

1. no , but I hunt w/ my other Perazzis.
2. maybe , but no one will care on a 1999 gun , no longer in production
3. my 1997 gun is proofed for steel. Perazzi says NEVER shoot steel in a gun choked tighter than Mod.

The proof mark for "OK w/ steel " used to be a fleur-de-lis.
