Can a selective trigger on a MX20 be changed to a non selective?

My MX20 is my upland hunting gun and I am having trouble with the selective trigger getting in middle position making it impossible to take off safety. I would like to eliminate this problem.

Thanks.

being new to upland hunting (first season with my own dog) and having a MX20 in the works this post got my attention.

are you hunting over pointers? if so i'm assuming you click off safe when approaching a point?

when you do end up stuck in the middle is it just a matter of putting back on safe then sliding up-left or up-right to fix?

Pointers.

Safety goes off as gun is mounted at flush. Any other time I feel is unsafe.

Ah I can see where the problem is then. Rush to get safety off and you're screwed. I've been clicking off safe when i get near the dog but i can see where a trip/fall on the way in could be a dangerous situation.

have also tried leaving gun open until i get about lined up with the dog. might not be a very natural movement though if you were gonna try that on the flush.

I have never had this problem w/ my MX 20. BUT--Call Dan Lokker at Giacomos. He can tell you in a second. Or the folks at Perazzi USA.

The fixed trigger safety can be a little wonky. Properly adjusted it shoulwd not lock up, it should move to the firing position for bottom or top barrel you have selected.

Feel free to contact me to discuss.

I’m also waiting for an MX20. Is this common with these guns?

I know 2 people other than me that have MX 20's. None of us have had this problem.Nor have any folks that I know had this problem w/ an MX 12 nor a HT S.

Not to say it can't happen.

Update on safety problem.

Talked to Don Rackley on Monday March 22.
Shipped receiver to him regular UPS Monday afternoon from Georgia to Texas.

Don called when he received gun on Wednesday. We talked about the selector and he told me besides the trigger he saw dragging marks on monoblock that needed addressing. Barrels not fitting gun well.

Don shipped repaired gun back Thursday and it was at my house in Georgia Sunday afternoon. Was supposed to be here Saturday, but got caught up in shipping somewhere.

Not sure about others, but I have never had that kind of service.

Don, I tip my hat to you sir.

Work preformed on safety:
Don didn’t see what he expected to see as the problem, so he increased the tension on safety selector and beveled the edges of the tang where if it was slightly off on the barrel selector it would slide in anyway.

Corrected the dragging of block on monoblock.

Don, correct me if I’m wrong on repairs.

Selector feels better. I think this will solve problem, but will not really know for sure till next hunting season.

Couldn’t be happier with work preformed or service provided.

Top Notch guy and a real Gentleman.

Rubysue,

Your summary is spot on and I hope the forum appreciates it, I do.

That is a real nice receiver, you take good care of it.

If we need to I can make a small piece to lock the selector out, the button will not move side to side, but the safety will still work. It’s kind of a drastic step, but possible.

Thank you for your trust and confidence in my work, it was nice to visit with you.

Don Rackley

rubysue,
Glad your Perazzi got all spiffed up! You are not alone in your safety woes. I am completely incapable of running a Browning H-type safety in the field and having the bottom barrel fire first. I have to move the selector to the left and just fire the top barrel first or I get hung up in the middle about half the time. I can walk and chew gum, touch my nose with my eyes closed and run a yo-yo. As Don described above you can make a block on the bottom of the safety so it is nonselective. Of course, the ultimate fix to this issue would be for Perazzi to offer these guns with double triggers!
Regards,
Jeff

Yes, I've actually seen a 2 trigger pigeon gun! I actively searched several years for a Perazzi double trigger. Closest I came was a gentleman who had TWO of them, brand new, in a drawer at home. He balked at selling me one and when I asked why he told me that then he would only have ONE. At that time he had no plans to actually shoot them. Giacomo used to do a conversion but ran out of parts years ago. I think a small-bore Perazzi field gun with double triggers would be the cat's meow!

I saw one on a pigeon shooter's back-up rainy-day gun. His Fabbri had a single trigger.
