Does anyone know if precision sports in Oskosh, WI can do work on the Tristar triggers

If not, can anyone provide a recommendation?

Also, who makes their gas operated semi autos?

I have a weatherby sa 08. It’s great but the safety is too stiff.

How are the safeties on the vipers?

It doesn't take much of a gunsmith to loosen a safety. My SA-08's had no such problem.

My G2 Viper is made by Armsan. Says that on the barrel. I would ask TriStar first and see if they would service it if it is defective. Otherwise, I would think that any decent gunsmith could work on the trigger group. I have seen youtube videos where owners have changed a spring or two.

Precision Sports did the trigger on My 28ga Tristar Viper G2. took less than a week ,trigger was nearly 8lb and is now 4 3/4 lb. Very Good people to work with.

Armsan makes the Tri-Star Viper and Mossberg SA-20, SA-28, etc. They also made the Weatherby SA-08 28 gauge.

I wouldn't be so quick to worry about a trigger job before you so much as have the gun. Some need trigger work, some don't, and many folks don't care much either way.



The Mossberg SA-20, a tremendous value in a twenty gauge auto, came with a 6-3/4 lb. trigger with some grit and creep as well. Whenever the break weight of a trigger exceeds the weight of the entire gun, it is obnoxious. On a nine pound goose-blaster, a 6 or 7 lb. trigger pull it isn't quite as bothersome, but it still is a negative.

Bob at Precision Sports did a fine job with several triggers for me, but Bob retired to chase women, race motocross bikes, or his own unique combination of the two.

Dave Sommerfeldt purchased Precision Sports, and now Precision Sports is known both by Precision and The Firearms Specialists, LLC. Dave does triggers for all Benelli semi-autos, all current production Franchi semi-autos, Browning Maxus, Gold, Silver, the new A5, the Winchester SX2, SX3, SX4, FNH SLP, Mossberg SA-20, CZ semi-autos, Remington 1100, 11-87, 870, and anything in the same category.

This was the very first Mossberg SA-20 trigger that Dave has worked on and he found it to be a very easy trigger to work with. The grit and creep is all gone and now it breaks just under five pounds according to my gauges after being re-installed in the gun. Dave can go lighter: out of the gun, the trigger now breaks at 4-1/4 lbs., getting a bit heavier while in the gun, something that isn't unusual. It makes a world of difference in the Mossberg SA-20, feeling like a brand new gun. Getting rid of the creep and grit is just as important to a good trigger feel as is the break weight itself, if not more-so.

I can't shoot anything above say 5-5.5 lb tigger pull, just can't do it.

I don't think the safety on the Weatherby is defective, its just too darn stiff especially for its small size.

I have one in 12 gauge, the trigger pull is around 4 3/4 lbs which is fine for me, the safety was just super stiff.

Surpised yours has a trigger pull that heavy, I thought your reviews reported right around 5 lbs or is that a pic of the reading for the safety?

The Weatherby PA-08, 26 inch barrel, 20 gauge slide-action shotgun . . .
The loudly obvious problem with the test shotgun is the trigger, for it breaks at an absurdly ridiculous 11 – 12 lbs., rendering this shotgun unusable as far as I'm concerned. ---

Weatherby adjusted the trigger on this PA-08 and shipped it back. However it remains unacceptably heavy breaking at 8-1/2 - 9-1/4 lbs. Moreover, it has an excruciatingly long take-up with false stops and is a very poor trigger even beyond the heavy break weight. The last thing I want is a 6-1/2 lb. shotgun with a two pound heavier trigger than the entire gun weight to try to fight.

I bought aftermarket trigger parts (just a spring, actually) and did the work myself to greatly improve the trigger of my Tristar Viper G2. A web search will provide all the info you need. It's an easy job.
