Post subject:  Rio 20ga hulls...hull/primer substitution?

I have quite a few Rio 20ga hulls (RC20 high brass) due to buying several cases when Academy Sports had them on sale years ago. I am aware that other hulls are "more desirable" to some but I hate to not utilize what I have. I'm having very little success finding published data for the Rio hulls other than for Vectan powders, which I don't have. I do have a few lbs of Hodgdon Longshot which lead me to their site researching load data. Based on that research, I have a few ?'s for you guys with experience loading Euro hulls.

1. Hodgdon lists data for Cheddite hulls. Some of my Rio hulls have the "stars" on the brass which some say is indicative of a Cheddite hull. Others do not have the "stars" and the grooves in the outside of the hulls are noticeable different. Could the "star" Rio hulls be used in place of the Cheddite hulls in Hodgdon's provided data? What about the ones without the "stars"?

2. IF the answer to #1 is yes, would a Nobelsport primer be a suitable replacement for Cheddite primers (listed in Hodgdon data) being they appear to be closest to a Rio primer in dimensions?

3. If Win 209 primers will fit snugly in the Rio hull primer pockets, can they be safely substituted as well?

Sorry if I asked questions with obvious answers, I just want to be as safe as possible.

All input appreciated! Thanks!

There is a substantial file of downloadable Rio data on the Ballistic Products website, all using Rio primers in 20 gauge.

I understand but Rio primers are unavailable everywhere I've looked online and there's nowhere for me to buy them locally.

BPI Multi Hull data- Multi Hull is Cheddite data. https://www.ballisticproducts.com/bpi/l ... 604105.pdf

I would use the SG20L/TUWG2520 because the Rio hull has so much volume. The SG20L is a tall wad and the powder cup has "fingers" that make it take up quite a lot of space. It's a good fit for the Rio hull volume. As a distant second I would use the TC20. Hodgdonreloading.com has Fiocchi data using the FIO616 and a GU2025 (SG20L/TUWG2520). I wouldn't be afraid to substitute a Rio hull in place of Fiocchi/Cheddite/Federal data.
Precision Reloading has them in stock while BPI lists case qty only.

I would bet that WIN209 will be too loose in your Rio hulls.

Yes yes yes. Win209 will be loose. Noblesport209 is a replacement for win 209.
Hal4son has a great post above.
