I own four Superx1's. One trap, one skeet, a field model and one highly customized X1 with trigger work done by the late Bob Baumgarter, stock work done by Greg Sissom, Briley choke tubes installed, receiver nickeled, etc. With that being said, I would recommend the Remington 1100.

Takes me all of 5 minutes to spray and wipe the gas parts on my 1100. That's all it gets between yearly more thorough cleaning, unless we go swimming. 57 years and still runs like a watch.

I do not trust Remington's dating service accuracy. If they were Match.com, you could end up with Nancy Pelosi.

I'm curious - how many rounds in a year?

Highest was approximately 8,000 rounds in a year back in the 60s when I was shooting skeet. A lot of 1-1/4 ounce heavy duck loads too. And back then all I used for spray and wipe was WD-40. That total went down a bit, but a lot of dirty Blue Dot heavy reloads got added in to the mix. Total now is something over 115,000. Several other 1100s and 11-87s along the way served with the same treatment.

It's off topic, but good to know.

I've been cleaning my 20g 1100LW pretty frequently (every 300-500 rounds) based on crud buildup in the receiver. But just wiping the barrel and ports would knock that down to about the same as the regular maintenance on the 50 - wipe down and oil chamber insert and snake the barrel after each session, but it only gets a full teardown every year or so.

Thanks

You will enjoy both for different reasons.
