After reading all this discussion about trigger pull, I decided to get the Lyman Trigger pull gauge out and do some checking on the guns I shoot the most. I have cleaned all my guns twice, cleaned the reloading room, cleaned all the presses, arranged all the shells since I had my surgery, and being grounded for 3 -4 more weeks I needed something to do :!: You are not going to believe the winner

All averages are 10 pulls

Dickinson 212 ELR Gold................5 pounds 5.5 ounces

Browning Maxus............................6 pounds 8.8 ounces/It was 8 pounds 4.2 ounces when new

Remington 1100, 60's vintage.......5 pounds 1.0 ounces

A5 Sweet 16 (new Version).............6 pounds 5.0 ounces

CZ Canvasback Deluxe...................4 pounds 9.1 ounces / 4 pounds 4.6 ounces

CZ 912..........................................6 pounds 0.5 ounces

Yildiz SPZ-ME Special.....................5 pounds 11.0 ounces / 5 pounds 3.2 ounces

Ted Williams 300 16ga...................4 pounds 2.2 ounces :!: :!: :!: And yes, I checked it twice, with a total of 20 pulls

Maybe tomorrow I will do all my guns, then handguns, then rifles, this grounded thing sucks.

I did that too a couple years ago. Using a Lyman Digital Scale I found some very interesting #s.
(I only did the first pull on my O/Us which is the bottom barrel)

Browning Citori Skeet (1982) 4 lb 3 oz.
Citori Ultra Sporter Plus (1997) 4 lb 2 oz.
Miroku Mk 38 Sporter (2017) 4 lb 2 oz
Browning 725 Sporting (2015) 3 lb 9 oz
Winchester M12 (1928) 6 lb 3 oz
Winchester M12 (1954) 6 lb. 5 oz
CSMC M21 O/U 3 lb 12 oz
Beretta 390 3 lb 11 oz.
Franchi Alcione 5 lb 1 oz
Krieghoff KX5 3 lb 8 oz

Notice how consistent the top 3 Browning/Miroku shotguns are that use the classic Browning/Miroku action from 3 different decades. The newer design 725 does have a better trigger. Also, note the two Winchester M12s that are 26 yrs apart yet have almost identical heavy trigger pulls. It's basically a tie between my Krieghoff trap gun and the Browning 725.

It's pretty clear from the posts above that field guns will generally have a heavier trigger pull than target guns, and that's as it should be.
