I own an original a500. I knew what the gun was when I bought it and I know their reputation as one of Browning’s mistakes. All of that aside, I am trying to find any information on replacing the breechblock buffer. It broke into a few pieces not long after I purchased it. I have a replacement buffer ready to go. I know it has to be “pressed” into place and sometimes “fitted”. However for the life of me I cannot get the new buffer to seat in place. For this to be a common problem with the gun there is no info out their on the process. Has ANYONE here ever changed one? Thanks in advance

I own an A500r but have never had to replace this part. I might imagine it is similar to replacing the buffer in a Winchester SX-1. I looked on Youtube and couldnt find any videos for the A500r. Perhaps someone who has done this will come along. Let us know how it goes as I am now curious. They appear to be the same parts on Numrich's site for the recoil and the gas models.

You might consider posting this in the gunsmithing section, or the Browning section.
To seat a buffer in a SX1, I've found it helpful to dab a little thick grease on the back of the buffer to hold keep it in place, then use a dowel and a few light taps with a hammer to seat it. But I can't tell from the diagram how an A500r buffer is held in place.
