This thread is getting old now but anyone asking these questions should seek out a good instructor. Realize that you should be focused on the bird but you will be aware of where your barrels are. This is not impossible. Focus hard on the A below and you'll still be aware of the B.

The human brain is a pretty awesome computer. I find that shooters tend to try and get in the way of it and cause problems when they over-think it.
