Hello all. I have a question I can’t seem to find an answer to. I bought a couple of r4300 receivers for my traps recently. My question is how weatherproof are they? Are they safe to leave out in the weather? Withstand hot and cold temperatures?

Thank you. I presumed that they probably would be as traps typically sit in the field at clubs. Thank you for confirming for me.

I am amazed that some clubs leave them sitting on the ground, sometimes even in a puddle. They may be waterproof but I hang mine from a plastic fence stake. If I'm leaving them out during wet times, I put them in a zip lock bag.
My receivers came out of my pocketbook so I treat them kinder!

I try to use zip-locks to tie them to the underside of the trap machine. That way they're protected a little and still can be gotten to if something needs to be done.

@John300exc I couldn't imagine leaving them in a puddle. I'm with you, these are mine and I'd like to have them last for awhile.

@bladesmith That's a good idea. How do you manage the cords when you move the traps around so they don't catch on anything? Do you zip tie those as well, or just unhook the receiver?

I use a Kawasaki Mule to move my machines. I just unplug the receiver and place in the cargo area of the Mule. My three new traps live in an enclosed shop and old machines stay under an awning when not in use. I have multiple chargers that are attached to the batteries when inside the buildings. I'm old and try to do things an easy way.
