I know that Dick's Sporting Goods is a hated entity on this Forum. However, where I live, they have consistently been the one place where I have found shotgun shells, at generally the lowest prices.

With the current ammo shortage, I had basically exhausted my options for buying shells. I am in a winter 5-Stand league that shoots for 10 weeks and was quickly running out of ammo. None of the online suppliers had any. None at Walmart, Sportsman's Warehouse, or the Dunham's in my area. Even Dick's didn't have any. Until last Friday.

I just happened to go into the local Dick's and they had both 12 gauge and 20 gauge Federal Top Gun loads in 7.5 and 8 shot. Price was $6.99, high but better than nothing. The thing is, they are behind the counter, you have to ask for them, and they are limiting how much you can buy.

But I did manage to get 200 12 gauge and 100 20 gauge. That will get me through the end of the 5-stand league and hopefully ammo will become more available as we get into spring.

I went into our local Dick’s and there was no ammo, guns, or any shooting stuff at all. Not even any floor space for it. You could buy lacrosse gear.

Our local WallyWorld has drop all gun related items. A few of our local gun shops have closed up and those left, do not buy Shot Shells in high enough quantities to offer very good pricing. But, I have been able to get RIOs and Gun Clubs on sale for as low as $50.00 a flat and they always having taken the extra 10% off coupons too, though they are not supposed to. AAs on sale at $7.99 for 12/20 and sometimes 28/.410 for $9.49.

I'd buy Federals at $6.99 - that seems to be where the old $5 boxes are now priced; unless you're at BASS Pro where Gun Clubs are sold for $8.99/box

I am glad that I have 90 flats of pre-pandemic priced shot gun shells and enough powder and components to load at least that many.

Now you need to make sure your shooting buddies do as well so all of you can shoot and help keep your club open. I can see where some of the smaller clubs may not survive if no one has ammo to shoot regularly.

Dicks could be giving ammo away for free and I would never know. I will not step foot in their stores.

Wife dragged me into the local Dick's because she needed some workout gear. I hadn't been there for years but the guns and ammo department was completely gone.

I have to agree. It's the principle of it.

If Dick's was the only place to get ammo, I'd have to apologize to those in the 5-stand league because I'd be dropping out.
That said, there have been a couple times where I was looking at something online that Dick's carried and had in stock locally and I was able to go look at it up close and personal...and then buy it online.
:D

Me too. Been in there to try some boots on that they had in stock. Found my size, and went and ordered them on line.

I was at a Dicks for the first time in many, many years cause the Best Buy next to it was still closed and it’s dam cold in Minnesnowta to be standing around outside in January ya know. Zero guns and ammo. Not even a hunting department. Lots of spandex for the ladies.

It'll be a cold day in hell before I shop in Dick's again, unless they undergo a leadership change and repudiate every anti-2nd Amendment stance they've taken.

I’ll go back to my muzzleloader day before I’ll buy anything from Dick’s. They are not supported by shooters like me for a valid reason — they actively and financially support anti-2A activities and causes. And, that reason has never been more valid than it is today.

F 'em. You should buy reloading equipment and start loading your own with the money you'd spend at Dick's.

I agree, F 'em. I load for metallic, but have always resisted loading shotshells due to the lack of cost difference. (at the time) Now, finding components seems problematic to the point that reloading will likely not be of any benefit.

:D Bought another 200 rounds for $6.99/box. I don't care if it's the devil himself selling the ammo I need. I plan to keep shooting and the supply and price is right currently. I'm not about to cut off my nose to spite my face. :D
