Like the story of the frog boiling in water, what I would not pay for shells today, may become the norm tomorrow. I did not pay the $55 for a pack of 4 boxes at the gun show but I did pay $35 for 4 boxes of heavy Winchester target shells today. I may pay that $55 this summer is nothing changes. I like shooting and I'm not ready to give it up.

I'm upset for having to pay such an increase in prices from a relatively short time ago but I am not going to sell my guns over it. BTW, if ammo is that costly and/or in such short demand, who is going to buy them anyway?

There is a top end for everything. A round typical round of 100 sporting was $30 in the late 90s, now it is $40. Skeet and trap were $3 now around $5. I doubt people would shoot as much if your typical round of 100 targets was $75.

100 bird competitions were always around $100+, but then fun shoots came into being when enough people got tired of putting purse money into the same pockets.

Once prices for shells crept up a few years back, other players came into the market (RIO, remember that’s all you saw for awhile), and prices came down.

If US shotshell prices keep going up because of market monopolies, someone else will step in. Remember Chinese shotshells?

Of course excessive excise taxes will kill most everything. But people will still pay $8 for a pack of cigarettes, or $12 for a six pack.

Where is the $5-$6 choice because that is what I have been paying and what I would pay.

I recently paid $75/flat. I can see them getting close to $10/box.
