I am a first time shotgun owner/duck hunter and bought a Benelli SuperNova 12ga chambered for 3 1/2 shells. I am currently training my Labrador puppy to retrieve birds and want to introduce her to guns. However the only size shell I could find for blanks were 2 1/2 inch 12ga blanks. Is there any reason I shouldn’t shoot these? Thanks in advance :)

I have a Super Nova and if the shells will extract and fire without issue, I see no reason to avoid them. Try it and see. It may only be a single shot but that should not be a problem while dog training.

The Super Nova is one tough gun for any shell size; provided you can handle the recoil of the 3.5 inch shells.
