I am a first time shotgun owner/duck hunter and bought a Benelli SuperNova 12ga chambered for 3 1/2 shells. I am currently training my Labrador puppy to retrieve birds and want to introduce her to guns. However the only size shell I could find for blanks were 2 1/2 inch 12ga blanks. Is there any reason I shouldn’t shoot these? Thanks in advance :)

I have a Super Nova and if the shells will extract and fire without issue, I see no reason to avoid them. Try it and see. It may only be a single shot but that should not be a problem while dog training.

The Super Nova is one tough gun for any shell size; provided you can handle the recoil of the 3.5 inch shells.

Your gun will shoot a round up to a 3.5 inch, anything below that it will shoot, it may not cycle but it will Handle it easy....just don’t shoot. 4” out of it or 3.75 out of it :D

S333,

There should be no problem shooting 2 1/2" shells in any 3" chambered gun. Light shells may not rotate certain SA guns however. Never exceed the Max shell designated for the gun however. If you roll your own, never exceed the proof test of the gun, or size shells required to operate the gun.
