That is why we needed to see the proof marks on the barrel flats. No one can provide a reliable DOM or suggestion regarding appropriate loads without those marks. And the gun should not be used with ANY load unless the barrels are examined with a bore scope and wall thickness measured from breech to muzzle.

Drew - I'm at a loss. What's the meaning to the stamps on the barrel? E. JF113 D The E.J is for E. James - F113 could be assembly number. D for Damascus (assuming fluid barrels were offered) No proof marks included? What do the crossed halberts mean?

I have to question the separate shipping idea because the barrels and action body bear the same S/N. In my opinion it would have been difficult to coordinate matching S/Ns from different shipments but ???? Perhaps they could have been shipped sans S/N. In addition there is no S/N stamped on the stock as in the case of Remingtons for example.

You're correct about having the bores checked prior to firing. Look good but ???
