I have a AH Fox 12 gauge double barrel shotgun, I believe the gun was produced in 1910 and has a serial number of 1115. Once I find more info about the gun, I will post pics of it.

Please read the last few pics that has the AH Fox Shotgun information specs..

Thanks

Have you visited the A.H. Fox Collectors Association site?

If you can find a copy, “The Finest Gun in the World” by Michael McIntosh is an excellent history of the man and the gun.

There could be two different Fox shotguns with a serial number of 1115.

The first would be a Philadelphia Arms Co. Fox double which looked like a Parker Bros. but with a rotary bolting system like an L.C. Smith. The early Philadelphia Arms Co. doubles were marked A.H. Fox on the sides of the receiver, but later ones were just marked Fox.

The second would be an Ansley H. Fox double. Ansley H. Fox left Philadelphia Arms Co. in December 1904, and incorporated the A.H. Fox Gun Co. in April 1905. The present theory is that the first 3000 receivers were made and serial numbered for production of the Ansley H. Fox double at the A.H. Fox Gun Co. factory at Wayne & Bristol Streets in the Germantown/Wayne Junction area of Philadelphia, in 1905 and 06. Some of these receivers made the move to the factory at North 18th Street and Windrim Avenue at the end of 1906 and were made into finished guns showing later characteristics.

A Philadelphia Arms Co. A-Grade, their entry-level grade, probably made in early 1905. In over thirty years of looking at Philadelphia Arms Co. guns, I've recorded 81 guns with serial numbers from 59 to 1846. Philadelphia Arms Co.'s last advertising was in the July 1905 issues of various sporting magazines. The company went into receivership in early 1906 and was sold at a Sheriff's sale in July 1906 --

Old 1115 has been restocked at some point in time as that is not the correct checkering pattern for an A-Grade on the grip. The grip checkering is much sharper than the forearm checkering and that isn't the grip cap that Philadelphia Arms Co. used.

Ask Shooters World to correct the serial number from 1116 to 1115.

Shooters World obviously didn't know anything about that gun. The manufacturer was Philadelphia Arms Co., not A.H. Fox. A.H. Fox was gone from Philadelphia Arms Co. before that gun was made. The butt stock isn't refinished it is a complete replacement.
