I am selling off some guns in an estate/farm auction this weekend for a gentleman that passed. We have a Belgium made Browning A5 Sweet Sixteen that was the estate owner favorite bird gun (based on the cases of 16 ga shells I have found to go with it). Serial No. on the bottom of receiver is:

3S
40xx

This doesn't seem to match anything I have found about the A5 serial numbers. Can anyone point me to a year of manufacturer? It is in fair condition I would estimate and is fully function. I had to try a few clays with after cleaning it. The barrel on it has a large ported style choke. I am not familiar with this one. Also found a new in box Japan made Sweet Sixteen barrel with the screw-in chokes.

From an older post I think I found this is a 1954 model and the second year of the "Sweet Sixteen". Does that sound correct?

The 3 stands for 1963, the S is for Sweet Sixteen.
