So my dad purchased a wingmaster in 1995 (we found the original sales receipt) that came with the 20" blued, rifled, cantilever barrel.

From what I can tell it is the same barrel linked above.
Obviously discontinued now.

He shot 2 deer with it and probably sighted it in once or twice for likely no more than 10 slugs ever put through it.
There is no pitting or rust spots at all and rifling looks brand new from what I can tell.
(I took pictures, but cant seem to figure out posting them anymore)

My question is are these desirable at all?
Why does Midway specify " '94 " in the description? Did something change that year?

And finally if I asked something like $280 for the barrel and the cheap Burris 4x scope, would that be reasonable?

It looks like the new Carlson or Mossberg made barrels are $280 new in this configuration. Not sure why the one I linked above was $380 before being discontinued.

BBGV says that the 1991-2011 870 Express Deer Gun came with a 12ga 23" cantilever bbl or a 20ga 20" cantilever bbl as a variation on the rifled bbls w/o the cantilever scope mount.

Further, the 870 Express Deer Gun came with the cantilever bbl and a Bushnell in 2005 - a bit late for your 1995 gun..

Hastings also made/sold clearly-branded cantilever bbls for the 870 (among other shotguns), retailed @ about $350

The gun is a Wingmaster not Express. The barrel does say Remington, made in Ilion, NY, is blued and the gun was ordered in that configuration by my dad. I just measured again to confirm it is 20".

The Wingmaster was also available with only a 20" bbl in 12ga (1992-1999) & 20ga (1992-1995)
