E-mail AyA from their website contact - AyA Fine Guns They can identify model from serial number in their log book. They might not respond quickly in the time of Covid.

I have sent them 3 emails in the last 2 months and they do not respond ... I think their customer service leaves much to be desired .....

Before the pandemic, their response was quick. I think that you should cut them a little slack.

IngAVV,
Judging by the photos that you posted, the gun appears to be a Model 53 and is the 2nd of a pair as indicated by the inlaid numeral 2 on the top lever and the barrel rib. Do you also have No.1 of the pair?

Thank you for the information, I will look for information on model 53. I don't have the number, does this detract from much value? Will you have more data on this model ???

IngAVV,
The value of a numbered pair of doubles is normally greater than the sum of two individual guns sold separately.
Its my understanding that the Model 53 is still being produced by AyA. Among the specifications for the current model 53 are gold washed internal sidelock parts, a concealed third bite, articulated front trigger, side clips and gas escape vents. Typical weight for a Model 53 is 6-3/4 Lbs. Have you removed the lockplates to inspect the internals? Be sure to cock the hammers before removing or replacing the the lockplates so as not to damage the stock while doing so (the lock plates can be a tight fit).
While your gun is proofed at 900 kg/cm2 (12,801 psi), be aware that these guns are patterned after British game guns and are not intended for use with heavy charges (2-3/4" magnums, etc.). Although the barrels and frame can take the punishment of heavy loads, the stock may develop cracks or splits behind the lockplates or in the wrist.
The underside of the barrels should have the bore and choke dimensions (in millimeters) stamped on them. The choke constriction will be the difference between them.

Congratulations. That is an extremely nice, functional, piece of crafysmanship. I'll wager you find it very well handling. I'd be proud to own and shoot it.
Enjoy!

First, very nice gun! How long are the barrels? I think it possibly is a 1975 production gun, the 91st of the year? Our three were all bought new and had the year of production minus the "20" in the serial number....'04 for 2004 and 06 for 2006 etc. I'd get a nice, non-white line and non-vented recoil pad installed by a good smith that specializes in that work and fitted to your LOP. We've got three #2 round actions at the house and really like 'em for hunting guns. They get shot occasionally for skeet or sporting too but really are great field guns, two 16 ga's and one 20 ga, all choked IC&M and all 28" barrel sets, all twin triggers.
