What would a fair price to both the buyer and seller for a approx 95% 525 Golden Clays 28ga, 30" barrels (as long as they made at the time), factory box and accessories included. Gun is all original except for a Kickezz pad to replace the hard rubber original. Bluing, engraving, gold inlays all as new, stock with a couple of VERY minor dings.

Thanks in advance

Man, that's a nice gun, but difficult to put a price on because there aren't many of them around.

My guesstimate of a fair price to both buyer and seller would be around $4,700 but it could go for more or less depending on the motivation of either the buyer or seller.

Could you post a few pics of the gun?

EDIT: See my revised "guesstimate" below.

Upon further consideration, I believe that $4,700 would be on the high side by a considerable amount for a 28 gauge 525 Golden Clays with 30" barrels. While that is a very nice and somewhat rare shotgun, I now think that $3,800 would be much closer to a fair price for the gun.

my gut is anything under $3k would be a deal i'd be upset about missing.

so i think i agree with the above and think mid-high 3s to low-mid 4s

I'd say in this case, the seller has the upper hand. He can find a buyer for almost any reasonable price. But yeah, $3K-$4K seems like the right ball park.

Here are some examples of Golden Clays 525 guns SELLING lateley.

None of them are 28 gauge, and I agree that they don't come up for sale often. I think north of $4500 is well with in reason for the 28 gauge. In the last year I have only seen one 28 gauge trade hands. It was a private sale, not on the internet and it is is my son's safe! The gun is amazingly special in so many ways. If you can buy it, I highly recommend it!

I noticed this gun on Gunbroker this morning and thought it would be relevant to the discussion for price discovery purposes . . . . (I have no relationship to the gun or the seller)

Here's a 28 gauge Model 525 with 30" barrels and upgraded wood. The seller has listed it with a BUY IT NOW price of $2,650. This is not a Golden Clays but otherwise a similar gun. Any increase in price over this one would go toward cosmetic embellishments. How much are doo-dads worth?

The only differences between that gun and the golden clays is an upgrade in wood, the engraving, the reduced production numbers, and the OP indicated that it also has the original box and paperwork with the accessories.

They should feel about the same in the hand!

Do-dads bring big money for some reason.
