Using the Belgian guide thread I think I have my grandfathers shotgun id'd as 1930 ? but cant work out manufacturer, can anyone help?

1930 is correct.
It's a 16g with 65 mm = 2 1/2" chambers and is of course Smokeless Powder proved.
The three-lobed crown over 'D' is the mark of Jean-Baptiste Delcour-Dupont/Canons Delcour S.A. (barrel production) of Nessonvaux. Some U.S. L.C. Smith, Fox, Ithaca, and Baker ("Homotensile Steel") guns also have this mark.

I don't see the maker's mark or initials, which is not uncommon on Belgian guns intended for export.

Thank you! it has us confused as the barrel has the Montevideo address on it but to our knowledge none us of were there !

It looks like somebody snuck off to S.A. - is there anyone in your family tree that was in the military, and thus possibly either had shore leave there, or was posted there ?

Yes in Argentina , but it was pre 1930 , if for some reason the British army Corps of engineers were building something in 1930+ in Uruguay then we might have a clue.
