I have had this shotgun for many years and don't know much about it .
It is a Savage 20 gauge 28 inch vent rib barrel model 30 series A. serial #A644181.
there is a SP inside a oval and a B stamped on the barrel by the receiver.
Savage Westfield Mass. there is no choke named so I would assume it is full choke.
can I get info on year this was made, aprox value. it is in good to very good condition, bluing is all there and dark a couple small dings in the wood. It shoots great and I still hunt with it on occasion.

The Model 30's were mostly made from 1958 -1970 - which falls into the years that Savage letter-date-coded their guns with the D.O.M.

The encircled code letter is stamped somewhere on the receiver.

J = 1958
K = 1959
L = 1960
M = 1961
N = 1962
P = 1963
R = 1964
S = 1965
T = 1966
U = 1967
V = 1968
W = 1960
X = 1970


The current BBGV gives values based upon remaining original factory contition, w/o alterations.
60% = $85
70% = $100
80% = $120
90% = $140
95% = $155
98% = $175
100% NIB (box/papers) = $220


For a more realistic value, it's best to surf guns-only auction websites for SOLD (only) examples in like condition to find out how much somebody's been willing to pay for one recently (not "whenever").

When surfing, keep in mind that "opening bid", "reserve", and "buy-it-now" (BIN) dollar amounts are not values - they are merely what a seller would like to get for one.
