Why did "gave" become "gifted?" Or "price" become "price point?"

The reasons may not be apparent, but there are reasons language changes. Since the invention of written language, change has dramatically slowed. Before that, language changes all the time. Get used to it. It is natural.

You've sure got that right. No apparent reason exists that I can see for adding another definition which currently does not exist to the word "gifted" while leaving the word "gave" in the dictionary nor can I see using two words ("price point") where one does the job just fine.

I can see “price point”, it has marketing implications the word “price” lacks.

When I taught history the kids were amazed that correct spelling wasn’t always a thing. Things were spelt pretty much anyway you wanted to get the idea across.

Road signs' could be confusing, depending on one's logic:

Under the traffic light (where your choice of colors is red, yellow, and green) the sign says

"Right on red when clear"

…...and I busted-out laughing when I saw......

I’m sometimes called a “Grammar Nazi” by folks online. I explain that I prefer the term “English language enthusiast”.

The guy in the original post didn’t inquire about the value of the baby he’ll be getting rid of. That seems strange. Having children of my own, I can tell you that I’ve gone the other way and had to sell guns because of the kids. Never occurred to me to keep the guns and get rid of the offspring. Would’ve been the fiscally responsible thing to do in retrospect.
